A Touchy Feely Card

I made this card to go along with Ms. March’s Pinup Challenge.  She wanted us to use lots of texture.  So I tried.

I used stamps from the Homeward Bound and A Pirate’s Life sets from Bombshell Stamps.

I learned how to make the toilet paper form from Terra at Smeared and Smudged.

This card also goes along with the March Junk Funk Challenge on Smeared and Smudged, which was to use bottle caps.

March Bombshell Sketch Card

I dream of one day getting things done at the beginning of a challenge instead of waiting until the last minute…but until then you’ll just have to deal with me posting lots of stuff at the end of the month.Winking smile

I made this card for the March Bombshell Sketch Challenge.  I love Kathi’s sketches.  This one worked out great because I had a piece of embossed metal with an oval cutout just laying around from another project.  I love when things work out like that.

For this card I used the Vintage Raceway set from Bombshell Stamps.  I drool over muscle cars.

March Bombshell Hop!

Hi!  Thank you for hopping with us today!  You should have arrived here from Alison’s blog.  If not, you may want to head back to the Bombshell blog, or take a look at the hop list below so that you don’t miss anything.Smile

The always amazing Alison chose a color challenge for this hop.  Here are the colors we were supposed to work with.

Color Luck

And here is the card I made, using Butterfly Queen from Bombshell Stamps.

In person the colors look closer to what they were supposed to.  Ah well.

I colored and cut out my butterflies, and then I gave them a coating of clear crackle paint.

First Rock N Rolla Challenge

This is extremely last minute, but I wanted to make sure I played along.  I made an art journal page for the brand new Rock N Rolla Challenge Blog’s first challenge.  The song that was provided as inspiration was Vermillion Part 2 by Slipknot.  For these challenges you have to include at least one line from the lyrics in your project.  The lines I chose are “She isn’t real.  I can’t make her real.”

This also goes along with one of the art journal prompts on Smeared and Smudged, which was to use lyrics on your page.

The stamp I used on the page is from Smeared Ink.  I used chalk allover the page.  I also used a lot of Distress Stain.  I love how it’s water reactive.

March Smeared and Smudged Member Hop

Hello!  The theme this month for the Smeared and Smudged member hop is Mixed-Media Mash Up!  I was excited about this theme because I’ve been trying to do more mixed media and altered art pieces.  I bought a new journal for art journaling the other day, so I decided to alter that.  I used a lot of different stuff on this.  Let me show you…

This is what it looked like before I started…

I covered it in gesso, then I used acrylic paint all over, then I used acrylic paint applied with bubble wrap over that.  My image was printed out and colored with Copics.  Then I cut it out and used Distress Ink around it.  I used artist chalk inside the oval.

Here’s the finished journal, and then I’ll show you some more details…

I used a Tim Holtz mask and Distress crackle paint to make the green gear.  The metal gear is also TH.

I’ve been really into making these little decorative pins lately, so I made one of those, too.  It’s pretty simple…a corsage pin, a Copic marker, some beads and some Diamond Glaze and there you go.

And here’s another picture of the image so that you might be able to see the chalk.  The image is Lavinia Portrait from Simply Betty Stamps.

Thank you for your patience while I tried to explain everything!

Here’s the hop list…

Pixie’s Bookshelf Projects

Hello!  I’m very excited to show you my projects today.  The book to read this month at Pixie’s Bookshelf was Switched by Amanda Hocking.  I had heard lots of good things about this book, and about this author.  And I have to agree with all of those great reviews.  I loved the book so much that I had to run out and get the second book in the series and read it, too!  Now I have to impatiently wait until April 24 to read the third book.Smile

I made two projects for this challenge.  Belle of the Ball from Pixie Dust Studio reminded me of the ball scene from the book, so I made a card with her…

And then I made a funky tag/mini bookmark, too.

100_6526

100_6529

It says “Trylle vs. Vittra”(in case you had trouble reading it).  The letter stamps are Studio G, and the other two stamps are from Smeared Ink.  I covered it in crackle glaze.

If I explain too much about the tag, or the characters I really like from the story it will give too much away if you haven’t read the books, so I’ll just keep my mouth shut for now.  I have ideas brewing for further projects, though.  You know it’s a good story when it inspires your creativity.
